Jennifer Garner, who was born in and was raised within Charleston West Virginia, on April 17th, 1973 is from Houston, Texas. William John Garner is her father. He was one of the chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner taught in a college near her. In order to continue in the footsteps of her father she obtained a degree as a chemical engineer. Her move to New York in order to follow her dreams as an actor. She was employed at a restaurant and was a part of Broadway shows. Her cameo was in the television series "Felicity." (It was on this show where she first met her husband Scott Foley.) Her breakthrough came in the action film "Alias." Garner's first leading role was the highly acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going on 30." The film starred her as a teenager who found herself stuck in the body of an older woman of 30. Garner decided to hire Gary Winick (director) to make the movie. They looked for new projects to do before Winick's passing in 2011. Garner earned the honorary title of artist ambassador in 2009 for Save the Children U.S.A. In addition to the promotion of early education, literacy, as well as nutrition at a at the national level, his role is also to promote national literacy. From 2014 onwards, Garner has been a part of the trustees' board of this group, promoting early childhood education. She visits many families in Early Steps to School Success - a program designed to teach parents how to help their child's education - acting as an ambassador.
