Laura Linney, best known for her strong but vulnerable characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of the present. Linney was born to an unmarried mother, who was a nurse. Her interest in theatre during the time spent in the summer with her famous father. Her studies in acting were at Brown University, and later in Juilliard School. In the two years following her graduation she started an Broadway career. The following year, she began her career she was on television. In the years since, she's performed in many films and stage and television productions. She's been nominated for three Oscar Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her time on the stage. Her nominations include five Tony Awards as well as three Oscar Awards nominations. In spite of all the recognitions and awards, theater is her main interest and she is determined to play on the stage and on screen.
